Getting Started
Complete Training
In the Records & Information Management Basics course (30 minutes) you will learn how to identify records, manage them responsibly throughout their retention period, and properly dispose of them once they are eligible for destruction This course is a prerequisite for attendance at all RIM on-demand courses available through Workday.
You must complete all ten lessons and get six out of eight questions correct on the quiz to receive credit for completing this course.
Please note, this course is different from, and more detailed than, the mandatory training required of all academic division employees.
Identify and Destroy Records
Use the retention schedule database to identify your records and determine if you are the official record keeper responsible for managing, retaining, and disposing of a university record.
If retention has been met, submit a certificate of records destruction (RM3 Form) for review and approval by RIM.
Store and Track Records
Retain records that haven't met retention in an appropriate physical or electronic storage location.
Paper records can also be sent to off-site storage. You must use the University Records Management Application (URMA) to track the location and retention of records sent off-site.
